Fake Steve Jobs - Still Satire?

On the fake steve jobs blog, he recently claimed apple made him an offer to stop impersonating steve jobs and close down the site. Shortly afterwards, he says he received angry letters from Apple’s lawyers, upset he would post the details of their conversation on his blog. Playing the hero, he writes:

I told them we either deal out in the open, completely transparently, or we don’t deal. I’m waiting to hear back.

In his next post, he goes on to claim he received another angry letter from Apple’s lawyers, listing a bunch of his assets, with the presumption he risks to lose them through his actions. He then goes on to thank people for their support, and takes a pot shot at the EFF, saying they refused his request for help by writing:

We only help people we like. Good luck.

Now, the problem is, all of this is fake. None of it happened. Except, since he is not pretending to be Steve Jobs in these posts, many people do not know this, and many are getting quite upset, going so far as to email the real Steve Jobs and voice their complaints.

Personally, I don’t read the Fake Steve Jobs blog, I never found the humor in it outside of the fact the guy writing it, Dan Lyons of Forbes, went on a tirade of rants about about how horrible anonymous bloggers are, writing:

Blogs started a few years ago as a simple way for people to keep online diaries. Suddenly they are the ultimate vehicle for brand-bashing, personal attacks, political extremism and smear campaigns. It’s not easy to fight back: Often a bashing victim can’t even figure out who his attacker is. No target is too mighty, or too obscure, for this new and virulent strain of oratory.

No kidding.
